    NorWHO: WHO simulation

The NorWHO Simulation, or just NorWHO for short, is an opportunity open for students who want to put their negotiation skills to the test and experience how international guidelines on global health are reached within the World Health Organisation (WHO). The event simulates the debating and decision-making processes surrounding the annual World Health Assembly of the WHO by incorporating several key aspects of the real-world meeting into an exciting four-day programme hosted in Copenhagen, Denmark. The World Health Organisation The World Health Organisation (WHO) is an agency of the United Nations that was established in 1948 to focus on the prevention and control of diseases of international concern. Since this time the WHO has worked on raising the level of health globally. Today the WHO resembles an understanding of health as being a shared responsibility, involving equitable access to essential care and collective defence against transnational threats. Find out more about the WHO at NorWHO NorWHO participants adopt roles as delegates of UN Member States and set about negotiating and debating their way through various sessions of the meeting, mindful at all times of the competing interests of NGOs and other third-parties (also played by participants) who lobby for their own ends. Ultimately, delegates work toward reaching a resolution that will put to the vote in the final session. Participating in a NorWHO event involves immersing yourself into the WHO simulation, attending lectures and workshops, and enjoying your time in Copenhagen throughout the social programme that’s arranged. All the while, you’ll be meeting like-minded people from across the world eager to engage on contemporary topics of relevant to the WHO’s activities and interests. The simulation is based around regional meetings, plenary sessions and lobbying. One’s aims during these components may vary slightly depending on the role you’re in, but generally your aim as a delegate is to ensure that the interests and views you represent are heard and come to be represented in the decisions of fellow delegates. In addition to the simulation, NorWHO features international lectures and trainings. Lectures are provided by a variety of academics or practitioners and seek to deliver high-level and interesting insights on the theme that will provide additional lines of consideration for the simulation components. Workshops focus on various global health diplomacy skills and equip participants with the tools required to get the most out of the simulation and provide maximal outcome of the experience. Read more about this year's NorWHO or register at their website. Register as soon as possible! » Læs mere

    SKC Annual Conference

The SKC Annual Conference 2016 is the second in a series of conferences devoted to Kierkegaard’s existential thinking. While the Conference in 2015 opened with the title
“Reconsidering Kierkegaard’s Existential Approach”, the 2016 Conference moves
one step further by focusing on the notion of the existential. How does ‘the’ existential relate to the distinction between ‘the’ aesthetic, ‘the’ ethical, and ‘the’ religious? This distinction has played a prominent but not uncontested role in the reception of Kierkegaard’s thought. » Læs mere
